Who we are

PAT Testing Leicester is provided by Leicestershire Appliance Repair, an independent business based in Leicester Forest East. For enquiries and services arranged through www.pattestingleicester.co.uk, Leicestershire Appliance Repair is the controller of the personal information described here.

The data controller's main privacy policy also applies to this website and our PAT testing services. You can read it at www.repair-my-appliance.uk/privacy. This page gives additional details about the PAT testing quote form, Google Apps Script and messages sent using the contact details on our Contact Us page.

For privacy enquiries, contact us on 0116 4884570 or by email at darren@repair-my-appliance.uk.

Information we collect

When you request a PAT testing quote, our form asks for your name, telephone number, email address, property or business postcode, approximate number of appliances, preferred testing date, residential or commercial booking type, testing address and any requirements you enter. If you contact us by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email using the details on our Contact Us page, we may receive your contact details, message contents, any photographs, videos or attachments you choose to send, and the date and time of the communication. We may also keep subsequent booking, testing, certificate, invoice and payment records if you use our service.

Our website and its providers may collect technical information needed to operate and secure the site, such as your IP address, browser information and visit details. Analytics or advertising tools, if enabled, may collect additional usage information subject to applicable cookie rules and choices.

Please do not send payment card details, identity documents or unnecessary sensitive personal information through the quote form, SMS, WhatsApp or email.

Why we use your information

  • Quotes and enquiries: to respond to form submissions, calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages and emails; assess the number and location of items; discuss requirements; and propose a date. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
  • Testing services: to schedule and carry out work, provide results and certificates, and deal with follow-up questions. Our lawful basis is usually performance of a contract.
  • Records and payments: to issue invoices, keep accounting records and meet tax or other legal duties. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract or compliance with a legal obligation.
  • Security and disputes: to prevent misuse, resolve complaints and protect legal rights. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in protecting customers and the business.
  • Optional analytics or marketing: where used, we obtain any consent required for non-essential cookies or electronic marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.

You are not legally required to complete the quote form. Without enough contact and site information, however, we may be unable to prepare a quote or arrange testing.

How the quote form works: Google Apps Script

Our quote form sends the information you enter to a web application we operate using Google Apps Script, a service hosted by Google. The script receives and processes your submission so that we can manage your enquiry and prepare a quote. This includes the contact, address, appliance count, preferred date and requirements fields listed above.

Google handles information as the provider of the services used to operate the script. Google's privacy policy explains its handling of personal information. Submission information and any copies held in our email or other business records are retained as explained below. Please do not submit information through the form that is unrelated to your enquiry.

SMS, WhatsApp and email

When you message us using the contact details on our Contact Us page, we use your message and contact details to answer your enquiry, prepare a quote, arrange PAT testing or deal with an existing booking. We may retain relevant messages and attachments as part of your enquiry or service record. SMS is handled through our mobile network, email through our email provider, and WhatsApp through WhatsApp's service. Messages sent directly through these channels do not pass through the quote form's Google Apps Script web application.

Contacting us does not by itself sign you up for marketing. The provider you use may process information under its own privacy terms; for example, WhatsApp may process account and message-related data to operate its service.

Who receives your information

Information may be handled by Google through Google Apps Script and any associated Google services used to manage submissions, our email and mobile network providers, WhatsApp where you choose to use it, and Webador as our website platform. Where relevant to a booking or payment, it may also be shared with payment, accounting and IT providers, professional advisers, insurers or public authorities when required by law. We only share what is reasonably needed for the relevant purpose and do not sell your personal information.

International processing

Some service providers, including Google, may process or access information outside the UK. Where a transfer is restricted under UK data protection law, we will use an applicable adequacy arrangement or other appropriate safeguard where required. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

How long we keep information

  • Enquiries that do not become bookings, including quote form submissions and relevant SMS, WhatsApp and email messages: normally up to 12 months after the last contact.
  • Testing, certificates, booking and invoice records: generally up to six years after the service or last relevant activity, where needed for tax, accounting, insurance or possible claims.

These periods apply to the enquiry and service records we control, including copies held through Google services, email and other business systems. We may keep information for a different period where a legal requirement, active dispute or continuing customer matter makes that necessary, and delete it sooner when no longer needed. Service providers may retain separate technical or security records under their own applicable terms and policies.

Cookies and website measurement

The site may use essential technologies for its operation and security. If non-essential analytics or advertising cookies are used, we will request consent where required and provide a way to change your choice. Google services used by the quote form may process technical information needed to operate and secure those services. You can also manage cookies in your browser.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct or erase your information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent where we rely on it. You have an absolute right to object to the use of your information for direct marketing. These rights may have legal limits; for example, we may have to keep invoices for accounting purposes.

To exercise a right or ask a question, email darren@repair-my-appliance.uk or call 0116 4884570. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal requirements change. The current version will show its last updated date above.
